AJ, why do you have to write the most wonderful heroes? Aaaahhhh!!! Now I'm hooked and begrudgingly wait for Book 2. I can't believe this is happening! 5 Stars on Amazon
Crazy good! A total fan of the first book, the second did not disappoint at all. I swear I could smell leather while reading this book I was sooooo into it. 5 Stars on Amazon
I liked Rowena in Rowena's Key. Candra's Freedom just made me fall in love with her! Fierce and headstrong, she is everything a heroine should be. 5 Stars on Goodreads
I absolutely adored the first two in this series, with Rowena’s Key being one of my favorite romance reads of 2013, so I had high hopes (read: desperate cravings) for Caedmon’s Curse – it did not disappoint! 5 Stars on Goodreads
Honestly, if there were more than 5 stars, I would give them to Caedmon's Curse and the whole Golden Key Chronicles. So well written, the story flows seamlessly from one danger to the next. The romance between Caedmon and Rowena is sexy, honest, and fresh. 5 Stars on Goodreads
AJ is a multi-published, award-winning author who lives in the middle of a cornfield in NW Indiana. Her loving husband, two beautiful children and a bevy of spoiled pets have agreed to stay and, in exchange for three rations per day and laundry service, tolerate her lunacy. While she spend most days happily ensconced in crafting romance across a multitude of genres, an underground coup has been percolating. The dogs just informed her the cat is secretly vying for dictatorship.

The Prayer - A Love Story Guestpost and Giveaway

I am honoured to be part of the Blog Tour for this wonderful inspirational love story by Jaqueline. Read about her debut book, and be sure to enter the Rafflecopter contest at the end of this post.

Jacqueline's Guest Post
Lessons on Life
This is not a dress rehearsal.  You don't get a re-do and there is no digital editing.  This magical thing called LIFE happens only once.  So PAY ATTENTION.
Lesson 1: Learn Your Purpose in Life
God put you here for a unique and special purpose that belongs to you and you alone.  Spend some time alone in deep prayer and meditation to learn what that purpose is.
Lesson 2: The Law of Attraction
How you treat others is how you will be treated.  That simple.  There are NO COINCIDENCES in life.  Anyone who tries to teach you the randomness theory is plain stupid.  Everything in your life is a consequence of your previous decisions and actions.  If there is something in your life you don't like or want to change, it has to start with changing your mind and your heart first.  Here's a dozy...there is no such thing as a victim.  I know, you're instinct is to yell and scream and argue with me, but the truth is everything does happen for a reason.
Lesson 3: Don't Take Advice From Those Who are BROKEN
Everyone wants to give advice.  Be careful who you listen to.  Even me, why are you reading this blog and why would you listen to me?  Ask yourself that question.  Only listen to those whom you respect and are living a life you admire.
Lesson 4: You Only Have 2 Choices in Life
The fact is you only have 2 choices with everything in life.  One, how you react to everything that happens to you.  This goes back to Lesson 2 and the Law of Attraction and thus determines how your life actually unfolds.
Two, how you feel.  Notice that word is bold, underlined and italicized.  That's important, re read this ten times if you have to.  If you're miserable you have no one on the planet to blame except yourself.  Only you have the free will to choose how you feel.
Lesson 5: Love
All the world's major religions teach the same thing.  The purpose of life is to love unconditionally.  Surround yourself who those who project love and stay away from those people who simply don't.

EXCERPT

Destiny

As soon as I got in the car, I almost changed my mind. I was exhausted. It had been a long week and, quite frankly, I was not in the mood for a party. Still, I had to go. I’d just say hello to Todd and leave early, I decided. I fumbled around in the dim light, looking for the directions. I had gone to Fort Lauderdale only a handful of times, and I still wasn’t sure how to get downtown.

Todd and I had known each other for years. He was the friend from Long Island who had organized the dismal raft-up that made me decide to leave New York. He was one of the most sociable and fun people you’d ever meet. Once you get on his email list, you’re a friend for life. That’s how he is. Todd was one of the last people I said goodbye to when I moved to Boca.

The previous Tuesday night, he had called. In his classic, larger-than-life style, he said he knew a guy who had a house in Fort Lauderdale, and he and a big group of friends from Long Island were flying down to stay there for the upcoming boat show. They were throwing a huge party on Saturday night, and I just had to be there.

I was not in the mood even early in the week. I was working long hours at the time, and I was mentally drained. I also didn’t look forward to partying with a bunch of single guys from Long Island. If it had been anyone else but Todd, I would have politely declined, but we hadn’t seen each other in over a year and a half.

Reluctantly, I accepted, but I added one little white lie. I told Todd I had a boyfriend. The last thing I want- ed was for any guy at this party to think I was single. I did not want to get hit on by any out-of-state guys on vacation. I’d just make a quick appearance and get home early, I told myself.

I pulled up to the house a little after dark. It was a spectacular, newly constructed mansion on the inter- coastal in the Las Olas Isles  of  Fort  Lauderdale. The home was impressive and stately, surrounded by stunning landscaping tall palm trees and a gated entrance. Although the house was huge, it looked quite warm and inviting, as well.

Suddenly, something odd hit me. There didn’t seem to be a party. In fact, hardly any cars were parked on the street. I double checked the address and checked the number on the gate.Yes, it was the right house. Was I too early?

Flashbacks of the cancelled raft-up went through my mind. The last time I got an invitation from Todd  for a supposedly huge event, it turned out to be a small disaster. I swore that if Todd had invited me to this house and there was no party, he was going to owe me big time.

As I started toward the gate, my doubts took over. What was I doing there? I couldn’t hear any music. I considered turning around and getting back in my car, but just then, someone on a Harley parked next to my car. He spotted me right away and made his way towards me. I thought I would look foolish if I turned around and got back in my car.

The tall man from the Harley approached.“Hi, I’m Joe.”

“Hi, Joe, I’m Jackie.”

“Hey, Jackie. So, how do you know Chris?”

“I don’t know Chris. My friend Todd invited me.” “Oh. I have no idea who Todd is.”

I was starting to feel a bit awkward, but there was no turning back by then, so Joe and I walked in together. From a grand center hall foyer, we stepped down into a sunken living room accented by a vaulted ceiling and twenty-foot floor-to-ceiling glass windows.

The first thing I noticed was the angel above the fireplace. It was a stunning, hand-carved, six-foot- tall wooden angel with a four-foot wingspan. I stood there staring at it, mesmerized. He was  beautiful. For a moment, I completely forgot where I was or how I got there.

I began to notice my surroundings. This was not the house of a bachelor, as I had assumed. It was definitely a family home. Family photos were everywhere, adults and children covering every wall and counter. In the foyer, an ornate antique Bible and a pile of rosaries graced a coffee table. Crosses and religious pictures adorned every wall. I could see that this home had been decorated by a mother, a woman of faith. It was a gracious and welcoming home.

The moment we walked in, Joe had left my side and slipped through the sliding glass doors leading to the back deck. Obviously, he’d been there before and knew the house well. I’m not sure how long I stood there, taking in my surroundings.

I quickly realized there was, in fact, no party. I was standing in a stranger’s home, completely alone. No crowds, no music, and definitely no party. Once again, I contemplated discreetly leaving. Then I heard a voice that seemed to be addressing me.

“Hey, there. I’m Carlos. How do you know Chris?” I followed the voice and walked through a break-fast room to get within view of whoever was talking to me. The voice had come from the kitchen. A casually dressed guy was seated at the island, enjoying his din- ner, and I guess he had noticed me standing by myself in the living room. I probably looked ridiculous just standing there, staring at the angel.

“Hi, Carlos. I’m Jackie. I don’t know Chris. I was invited by my friend Todd.”

“Who the hell is Todd?” Carlos blurted out.

At that point, I definitely felt like I had just crashed someone’s home. What was I doing there? Nothing about this made any sense. Why had Todd invited me to that house? Why had he told me there would be  a  party  there  that  night? Why  didn’t  anyone  there know who he was?

I needed to leave, and by then I didn’t care whether anyone saw me walk out the front door with no explanation. However, as I made my way back through the breakfast room and across the living room, I was intercepted.

A dark-haired man in blue swim trunks barreled through the sliding glass doors into the living room. He didn’t have a shirt on, just a towel wrapped around his shoulders. He was soaking wet, obviously just out of the pool. Oh my goodness, but he was cute! He was also half-naked and smiling at me—and that smile was melting me.

Full of excitement and exuberance, he put his hand out to shake mine and announced,“Hi, I’m Chris.”

The Third Heaven: The Rise of Fallen Stars is book one of a three part series that tells of the fascinating story of the Fall of Lucifer.   Lucifer, God’s perfect creation and who dwelt in his very presence, walked in the midst of the stones of fire. Yet rose up to betray the Lord and bring Heaven itself to civil war.

Many tales have referenced this great angelic war but few have sought to explore the dynamic relationships between God and the angelic hosts. Why did a third of heaven seek to overthrow their creator?   See Lucifer and his actions in a light never before seen. Journey back to the beginning, and see the drama unfold before your eyes: as allegiances are broken; choices made, and why all of creation waits for the manifestation of the sons of God.

The Zoastra Affair by Victoria Pinder - a Science Fiction Romance, just released

Hi Victoria, so pleased to have you here today.  Make yourself comfortable and sip something strange and sparkling.  Before we hear all about your latest book, I'm dying to know how you came to write this.

"I wanted to write a short story, 10000 words and Ariel was to be the bad girl in the novel. I couldn't write the novel past chapter 4 though. A few thousand words in then I had to walk away. While swimming one day a few months later, I thought y'know I think the problem was with that book was that Ariel was not the villain. Her name wasn't Ariel at the time. She had the pink hair, but a different name entirely. Once I had the thought that Ariel wasn't evil, I revised the first few chapters then the book could be written. To come up with her name, I looked up to the sky and asked, 'what would a cool alien name be? She'd be from the sky... I went through airy words until Aeriel came to mind. Then I thought, perfect, now lets make that a girl's name.

I wish I could write sci fi faster. My other books are so much easier to come up with ideas. But body switching and how that works, well the truth, I have no idea where that came from. Except perhaps Freaky Friday or one of those movies. And there is a really bad sci fi movie where the villain takes over someone's body. I remember the chick is a blonde in that one. And of course what everyone asks me, 'is it like The Host?' My answer is no. It's a full switch. Ariel takes Grace's body. Grace takes Ariel's body. There is no internal angst on who is who, except when Ariel stares in the mirror and feels guilty. "

That's fascinating Victoria, and this sounds like an amazing story. (I wish I could write SF faster too, but it takes a lot of research, though that's part of the fun!)  I do love Science Fiction Romance (did you guess?) and this sounds like a truly original idea, can't wait to read it! So without more ado, let's find out a little more!

THE ZOASTRA AFFAIR

by Victoria Pinder

Published by Soul Mate Publishing
Science Fiction Romance
Heat Level: Steamy
Length: 258 pages

Blurb:

A hundred years from now, Earth has trading partners with alien beings, mostly humanoid. However, going into space brought forth an unknown enemy who attacks Earth at will.
The Zoastra is part of the Earthseekers, an organization originally designed to go into space. Its new mission is to find Earth’s enemies.
Ariel is stuck on a Victorian planet and steals Grace’s body and life to get off the planet. Grace must get her body back before Ariel bonds with Grace’s husband, Peter. Then there is Cross, the man on a mission to find those who killed his family. Ariel is attracted to Cross, but she’s stolen someone’s life.

Excerpt:

Twenty Second Century Sheraton Home World

I’m going to have to steal someone else’s body to get out of here. “Excerpt:

“Ariel, are you listening?”

Ariel Transcender stared dumbfounded at the mother superior of her prison, a/k/a Aulnale School for Orphans. “Yes, mistress.”

She had no idea what happened, though she pasted a fake simpering smile of appreciation on her face. Ms. Rochelle walked away.

A few minutes later, Ariel looked out the window again, tuning out Rochelle’s mind numbing lecture on what was proper behavior when near a man. The boarding home on this planet gave the stupidest lectures of the galaxy. Her lips curled into a sneer. Women were not excited to be bound to men.

Could I do this to someone else? Do I have any other choice?

Lenchena, the teenage girl who’d stolen her adult body and taken off on Ariel’s ship, needed to be found. And Ariel refused to listen to the daily drivel about always listening to a man.

No longer on her planet, Grinocx, she did her best to understand this planet’s culture. Order made sense, but the Sheratons never made sense. Her gaze wandered to the well-manicured lawn designed for ostentatious parties. Not paying attention, Ariel’s mind still picked up a few phrases in the lecture, please a man, be agreeable, and do whatever is asked with a smile, floated in the air.

Lenchena’s voice became animated as she told them, “Ferula can be used on your future husband to ensure he finds completion even if you are too tired to perform your duties. However, with your husband, do this sparingly or else he’ll find you a lazy wife.”

Ariel blinked after that statement. Another grueling lecture on pointless marriage and sex. Blah, blah, blah. Her people, Grinders, didn’t believe in love and mating only to reproduce. Being stuck on Sheraton where the women dressed in long dresses, caring for homes with neatly cut green grass, and doing nothing more exciting than watching the pink dawns, while the men held careers in outer space, had never been her plan.

Was she really sitting in a lecture on how to please the male species? She rolled her eyes. Seriously? No, she refused to listen to this nonsense. The words ‘ladies never say no’ reverberated behind her back and made her face pucker.

Ariel schooled her features, pretending to listen to the school master, Ms. Rochelle. The woman had no heart. No one had listened to Ariel when she had cried for days and days that some young teenager had switched bodies with her, trapping her in this alien hell. Rochelle had dragged her back to school, and kept her under lock and key.
Hope became fleeting after that, while the years ticked past. For the past four years, she’d been training at the all-girls school for orphans on how to be a proper maid and housewife.

The twenty-five years of her life training to be an engineer, then serving on the starship Tygra, then the sistership Thrycer, had been stolen. Now that this body was almost of marriageable age, Ms. Rochelle, cursed school teacher, paraded Ariel out of the orphanage to find her a match. Every week or special event needing service, Ariel had on the job training with heavy supervision, pointing out Ariel’s light pink hair and ability to be a serviceable wife to a working man. Pink hair girls are sweethearts. Yeah right. That lowlife bottom-feeding insect, Lenchena, had stolen her body and her life.

Ariel had stopped complaining years ago because it got her nowhere. She was on her own and needed to find a way out of this body and back to her ship. With the almost age of marriage upon her, it was now or never. Then Ariel was going to find that little twit who stole her body and make her pay for stranding her on this backward planet.
“In a few weeks Ariel will be leaving us. Heading toward marriage with Massimo?” Ms. Rochelle’s voice pulled her back into the lecture.

“Err . . .” Massimo, with his hovercraft, became convenient transportation to leave the school with permission, but marriage? The boy dreamed of owning a restaurant with a pretty wife. She’d find a way off the planet, when she wasn’t being observed or offered for marriage to every low level non-space going man on this planet. Time ticked fast now.

“Ariel is lucky to have found a man so interested in her beauty, he can overlook her status.”

Ariel’s mouth tightened and she lowered her head to hide her scowl. No. Massimo was a child, too. Getting her body back from the child thief, Lenchena, mattered far more. This body was now strong. Away from the ever-watchful teacher, she’d have her chance for escape at one of the upcoming diplomatic events where she’d be a maid or serve others dinner. Plus, Sheratons mated for life, something Ariel refused to believe in. But in order not to draw attention to herself, she played along. “Um, yes. I am.”

A group of male soldiers marched past the closed door of the school room. The females in the class twisted around to catch a glimpse of them. Ariel didn’t join her classmates in staring and drooling at the opposite sex.

Pathetic.

Why did these aliens keep males and females separate until marriage? The customs of this world never ceased to amaze her. The teacher taught the virgin teenagers to expect women to fall into orgasm whenever a man’s hand grazed her body. Seriously? Had they never had sex before? In her memory, sex hadn’t been that all-encompassing. For the past four years she’d been stuck in this body, living through alien teenage hormones. The sexually denied tightness irritated her body, and her mind longed to be back working on a single engine design. On the Thrycer, she’d run a top design engine room, winning numerous awards for ingenuity on a space ship. Then she’d joined the boarding party to Sheraton, being told the planet was a relaxing and safe tranquil spa. Lies.

If Ariel let them, these alien hormones would dull her reaction time in the girl’s leftover body that held her consciousness. She’d managed to keep slim and fit with exercise as she bided her time until she found a way to her freedom, and got her body and life back. When she finished this, she’d fix everything. She’d force the girl who stole from her to return with the borrowed body to make the final switch and right everything.

Wow! What an intriguing excerpt!  Thanks for sharing, Victoria!

About the Author:
Victoria Pinder grew up in Irish Catholic Boston before moving to the Miami sun. She’s worked in engineering, after passing many tests proving how easy Math came to her. Then hating her life at the age of twenty four, she decided to go to law school. Four years later, after passing the bar and practicing very little, she realized that she hates the practice of law. She refused to one day turn 50 and realize she had nothing but her career and hours at a desk. After realizing she needed change, she became a high school teacher. Teaching is rewarding, but writing is a passion.

During all this time, she always wrote stories to entertain herself or calm down. Her parents are practical minded people demanding a job, and Victoria spent too many years living other people’s dreams, but when she sat down to see what skill she had that matched what she enjoyed doing, writing became so obvious. The middle school year book when someone wrote in it that one day she’d be a writer made sense when she turned thirty.

When she woke up to what she wanted, the dream of writing became so obvious. She dreams of writing professionally, where her barista can make her coffee and a walk on the beach, can motivate her tales. Contemporary romances are just fun to write. She’s always thinking whose getting hurt and whose story is next on the list to fall in love. Victoria’s love of writing has kept her centered and focused through her many phases, and she’s motivated to write many stories.

Always Imagining Life

from http://www.usatoday.com/story/happyeverafter/2014/01/02/book-trailers-anastasia-epstein-pinder/4285325/

The Zoastra Affair by Victoria Pinder is a science-fiction romance adventure that features body stealing, planet hopping and aliens. Yes, please! The video is short and milks every second for its full opportunity to pull you in with the upbeat slightly techno soundtrack, the brisk script and the images of hunky guys with guns. I loved how you got a real sense of the high stakes of the book and the intricate character dynamic from this trailer.

See for yourself below!

Thank you so much for being with us today, Victoria.  Your transport ferry is docked and waiting for youl  I wish you tons of sales and even more success, and of course, a safe journey back to Earth!

Happy New Year and a look back at 2014

2014 Chinese New Year of the Horse eastern elements composition. Vector file organized in layers for easy editing. - stock vector

I know I'm a bit late in wishing my blog readers a Very Happy New Year, but I'm like a horse's tail - all behind. Hope you all had a lovely Christmas, and that I manage to do better in 2014!

I thought I'd have a brief pictorial look back at my own personal 2013:

It started off with some snow in February - after missing giving us a white Christmas, but the horses didn't mind.  They just stood waiting for us to come with their dinners! They have their rugs and an  open  shelter so they were snug and warm

Then spring came, bringing with it some sunshine and walks through a
bluebell wood near where we live

Then in May the village next to ours held the first ever literary festival which I was lucky enough to be able to take part in
Later in the summer we visited several steam rallies, just love these old steam engines...
Not to mention the heavy horse displays

The highlight of the year however, has to be my holiday with hubby in beautiful Pittsburgh and Ohio...

where we met our dear friend, the late Sharon Donovan's lovely sister, Mary Beth and went on a river cruise with her, as well as being treated to a lovely lunch at her parents home...
and my sweet friend and Author Roast sister hostess, Mary Ricksen, pictured here at the 'spaceship' at Mars
Mary, hubby Dave and I then moved on to the Dreamhouse  Guesthouse in Ohio, belonging to Cat and Allan Kaulback, where we had a wonderful time in the lovely countryside, seeing the sights and spending time with them and their lovely horses

Mary me and Cat at Smolen-Gulf Bridge, the longest covered bridge in Ohio

Then in November, I attended the third Festival of Romance in Bedford, and had a great time, meeting old and new Twriter friends and the conference on Sunday was really interesting with some great talks by editors and agents.

The year didn't end on such a good note, as at the end of October, our little rescue, Bouncer the  Jack Russell terrier, fell ill and was diagnosed with a brain tumour.  He was badly treated before we had him and has gone blind in the last year, so it doesn't seem fair that he should have this as well.  However, he's on medication and seems quite happy and comfortable, and is back to his normal self at the moment, so we're making the most of whatever time we have left with him and hope that we'll be able to enjoy his affectionate and cheeky little ways for a long time to come.

I hope that 2004 will bring you everything you wish yourself
