SFR Brigade Showcase - Beloved Enemy

Once a month the Science Fiction Romance Brigade authors showcase snippets from new work, WIPs, cover reveals or other fun things. This is the link to the other  participants.

I thought I'd do something a little different to just posting an excerpt. I've been having fun making 'teasers' for the third book in the Destiny Trilogy - Beloved Enemy.

Cat Kincaid is obsessed with killing the man she believes is responsible for the torture and death of her sister, but when she eventually catches up with him, survival becomes a greater priority than revenge.
Kerry Marchant, haunted by memories, regret and self-blame, shields himself from the pain of the past by committing himself totally to the starship, Destiny, of which he is part owner. However, the beautiful, red haired woman who reminds him of his lost love, and who he suspects is working for a corrupt regime, represents a possible threat not only to the ship, but to his heart.
Marooned on an inhospitable planet, they need to work together to stay alive, fighting not only unknown assailants, but their growing attraction. But how can they learn to trust each other when he has vowed never to get close to a woman again, and she made a solemn pledge to destroy him?

And I've had some lovely five star reviews - these are snippets from just a couple

The other two books in the Trilogy are Starquest and Children Of The Mist

(Although every story in the trilogy features some of the same characters, each book can be read as a ‘stand alone’ novel.) You can read the first chapters of each book for free by clicking on the links in the sidebar of this blog.

  1. I did a teaser image for one of my books. It garnered a lot of attention. I need to do more. One suggestion. Your text is often too small to read easily. The bottom image was the best. Some of the problem was the contrast between background and text. If I saw the top image of the woman out and about, I'd ignore it because of the text size. Design as though everyone is mildly visually impaired. You'll grab more people.

    1. Thanks for the suggestion, Cailin, yes, I have to admit I have a problem getting the text big enough to read without it filling the whole space. You're right about the background as well, I will keep that in mind in future, perhaps I need to keep the background simpler! (The first one should be an easy fix!) I appreciate your help!

  2. I enjoyed your teaser images. I have a question about them -- where do you find is the best place to deploy them?

    1. Hi Ed, thanks so much - To answer your question, I sometimes tweet them or put them on my Facebook page - and my Newsletter. I don't think one can use the same one too often though or it gets stale, so I need to find time to do some more (and incorporate what Cailin said, above!)

  4. Thanks Aurora - yes this was fun to write, there are times when they literally want to kill each other - when they're not fantasizing about ripping each others' clothes off! :)

  5. Enemies to lover stories are super fun! Cailin brought up some good points about the teasers. I should try making these one day. What program do you use?

    1. Thanks KM - Yes, I loved writing about these two. I use Photoshop Elements but I'm still on a learning curve! :)

  6. Love the teasers. Depending on what program you use, it should be easy to fix the font size and switching up the color of the font will make it show up perfectly on your backgrounds. :)

    1. Hi Veronica, thanks, I do enjoy making these but I'm grateful for the advice about the fonts not being clear, I hadn't realised how hard they were to read, but I'll know for next time!

  8. I enjoyed the teasers-fun way to share. What's next for you, Lyn? Is your work in progress a fourth to this trilogy or something new?

    1. Hi Caroline, thanks so much, I'm actually working on a 'fun ghost story' at the moment for TWRP and although I wasn't thinking about doing any more in the trilogy - the characters are still with me ... nagging! *wink*
