I'm currently sharing excerpts from Starquest, the first of the Destiny Trilogy
Without warning, Ayandos leapt forward in a fluid movement that was almost too fast to comprehend, and caught hold of Jess’s arm, dragging her back to where he’d previously stood.
“Let me go!” Jess lashed out with her free hand, struggling to free herself, but she was no match for the strength of the mutant. Kerry lunged toward the albino, as Jess cried out, the dread in her voice tearing through him like blaster fire.
STARQUEST (The Destiny Trilogy, Vol. 1)
BLURB: When Jestine Darnell is rescued from her sabotaged starship by the crew of the Destiny her only objective is to complete her mission and keep her promise to save a world from slavery. Love is the last thing on her mind. However, she has not counted on losing her heart to Kerry Marchant the ship’s second in command, who makes his distrust of her painfully obvious, despite the chemistry between them. The completion of her mission has consequences that neither of them could have foreseen.
Enter Dahll Tarron, who becomes involved in a long and dangerous quest to find the Destiny. Fates become intertwined, perils shared, culminating in the realization that sometimes love may be so close that there is a danger it will not be recognized until it is too late…

ReplyDeleteI'm glad you like the image, I love playing with graphics to illustrate my posts!
DeleteA dramatic scene! Loved how well the illustration paired with the description. Enjoyed the snippet...
ReplyDeleteHello Veronica, thanks, and I'm glad you liked the graphic too, I was hoping it would help bring the scene to life.
DeleteUnless this is tragic conclusion of the book, she is injured but not dead, right?
ReplyDeleteWell...it's actually only an early chapter of the book, beyond that, my lips are sealed!
DeleteBy the way, Ed, couldn't find your post for this week, did Effing not let you do one? x

DeleteBy the way, I realise there's a character I haven't mentioned before in this snippet - Ragin, one of the ship's telepaths.
DeleteWonderful action scene.
ReplyDelete(He has a gun?)That cannot bode well.
Thanks Karen - yes, the point is Ayandos tricked them into thinking he was unarmed, then pounced on Jess. As you say, certainly doesn't bode well!
ReplyDeleteOutstanding action writing! The gun adds a whole-new element to it. :-)
ReplyDeleteHi Teresa, thanks so much for your kind words, glad you enjoyed it!
DeleteI have so much trouble writing fight/action scenes I feel like I should be taking notes.
ReplyDeleteAw thanks PT, that really boosts my confidence! :) Fight scenes can be a bit tricky. There are several in this book and I really enjoyed writing them once I got into the 'swing'.
