Hi   fellow  Snippeteers and readers.

Last week I introduced Terpsichore, Muse of the Dance. Apollo has commanded her to dance again for him, and has accompanied her on his kithara. However she knows there is something else he wants from her. (Slight rearrangement of punctuation to comply with 10 sentence rule)

DANCING WITH FATE

The remnants of her song faded and lingered for a moment in the crystal air. Terpsichore spread her arms in abeyance, then clasped her fingers in front of her, and stood for a moment in silence. Apollo slowly lowered his instrument and clapped his hands, smiling and indicating she should sit beside him. She bent to retrieve her lyre, before seating herself and gazed at him, trying to hide her curiosity. "You wish something further of me, my brother?"
For a long moment, Apollo seemed deep in thought and did not answer.

"Do you remember a land of mortals—a small country known as Cymru, the brotherhood, erstwhile called Cambria, or Wales as some would have it? You may recall the folk who inhabit it, who call themselves the Keltoi?”

Ah, the Celts. How could she forget them? "I do - they were a fierce and noble race, with much knowledge of magick and the hidden arts.

(Cover by Miss Mae)
When Terpsichore, the Muse of Dance, is assigned to revisit the land of Wales, her task seems simple enough. She is unaware there is a hidden agenda. Before she can return to Olympus her path crosses that of the mysterious Myrddin, and her heart is lost. But Myrddin is promised to another. His mind is set on the dangerous task that lies before him, and the woman he has sworn to save. Nevertheless, he cannot deny the growing attraction between him and the beautiful stranger he meets along the way. Terpsichore and Myrddin face a deadly force that threatens to part them forever. Is she destined to lose the only man she has ever truly loved? Is there nothing she can do to save him? Finally, when all seems lost, in desperation she finds herself DANCING WITH FATE.

SINdicate

The New Lyons Sequence #2
by J.T. Nicholas

Genre: Science Fiction/Cyberpunk Noir

Pub Date: 3/20/2018

The Post-Modern Prometheus

Synths were manufactured to look human and perform physical labor, but they
were still only machines. That’s what the people who used—and
abused—them believed, until the truth was revealed: Synths are
independent, sentient beings. Now, the governments of the world must
either recognize their human nature and grant them their rightful
freedom, or brace for a revolution.
Former New Lyons Detective Jason Campbell has committed himself to the
Synths’ cause, willing to fight every army the human race marches
against them. But they have an even greater enemy in Walton
Biogenics, the syndicate behind the creation and distribution of the
“artificial” humans. The company will stop at nothing to protect
their secrets—and the near-mythological figure known to Synths as
“The First,” whose very existence threatens the balance of power
across the world . . .

SINthetic
The New Lyons Sequence #1

The
Artificial Evolution

They look like us. Act like us. But they are not human. Created to perform the menial tasks real humans detest, Synths were designed

with only a basic intelligence and minimal emotional response. It stands to reason that they have no rights. Like any technology, they
are designed for human convenience. Disposable. In the city of New Lyons, Detective Jason Campbell is investigating a

vicious crime: a female body found mutilated and left in the streets. Once the victim is identified as a Synth, the crime is designated no more than the destruction of property, and Campbell is pulled from

the case. But when a mysterious stranger approaches Campbell and asks him to

continue his investigation in secret, Campbell is dragged into a dark

world of unimaginable corruption. One that leaves him questioning the
true nature of humanity. And what he discovers is only the beginning . . .

J.T. Nicholas was born in Lexington,
Virginia, though within six months he moved (or was moved, rather) to Stuttgart, Germany. Thus began the long journey of the military brat,
hopping from state to state and country to country until, at present, he has accumulated nearly thirty relocations. This experience taught
him that, regardless of where one found oneself, people were largely the same. When not writing, Nick spends his time practicing a variety
of martial arts, playing games (video, tabletop, and otherwise), and reading everything he can get his hands on. Nick currently resides in Louisville, Kentucky, with his wife, a pair of indifferent cats, a
neurotic Papillion, and an Australian Shepherd who (rightly) believes he is in charge of the day-to-day affairs.

Offworld Book Tour and #Giveaway

Off World
by
Kimberly Adkins
Genre: Science Fiction
73 pages

Does space make you paranoid?

Was The Corporation harboring a dark secret on the off world mining
colony to protect their bottom line?

ChristopherCarter loved to explore. He was a specialist in his field back home
on earth, and travel to a moon that orbited a gas giant 120 times the
size of his home planet was the opportunity of a lifetime.  This
would be his first deep space assignment, and he'd wanted this
contract more than anything else in the world; except for his family,
of course. And he didn't have to choose one or the other.

It was amazing how things worked out --Until they didn't.

Everyone was hiding something at the facility, and it didn't take long to
figure out they were hiding it from him. Unfortunately for
Christopher, the truth would prove to be far more horrifying than
anything he could ever have imagined.

KimberlyAdkins is an author and artist who spends her spare time working on worm hole theories so she can go back in time and enter Star Gate’s
‘Get in the Gate’ sweepstakes as many times as it takes to win.

Q: Tell us something interesting about you that most people wouldn’t
know?

A: I have a Cylon toaster in my kitchen. So far, it hasn’t convinced
any of my other appliances to revolt against me and assume control
over the destiny of mankind. I guess I’m lucky there. It does burn
‘Frak Off’ onto my toast every morning, though.

Snippet Sunday - 'Dancing With Fate' "Terpsichore...a word."

Hi   fellow  Snippeteers and readers.  Thank you to everyone who's been following and commenting on my 'Destiny Trilogy' series of books. A change from my beloved Science Fiction romances today - I'm featuring another one from my back list - a romantic fantasy novella, set in 5th Century Wales and Ancient Greece. (A wierd combination, huh?) This book was orginally part of the 'Songs of the Muses' anthology published by the Wild Rose Press, but I re-published it myself having got my rights back.

I don't consider myself in any way a poet - but somehow this particular story seemed to call for one - so this is the very start of the first chapter, set on Mount Olypus in the distant past, although the poem itself refers to Cymru (Kuhm-ree) the Principality of Wales. The Teifi (Tie-vee) is one of the major Welsh rivers.
(This is included in my ten sentences)

DANCING WITH FATE
(Cover by Miss Mae)

In the valley so green, in the sunlight of morn,

The muse of the dance strays thoughtful and slow:

The flowers of spring her bright hair adorn

But the wind through the trees sighs, laden with woe.

She looks o'er the mountains, heart filled with emotion,

And watches the Teifi to the great ocean flow.

"Cymru, poor Cymru," are the words softly spoken.

"Your music's forgotten, you live by the bow."

CHAPTER 1
The last notes of the choir died away and on ceasing their song, the nine beautiful sisters made the slightest of curtsies to their leader. Apollo smiled in approval and the marble hall, with its gleaming pillars of white and gold, glowed in his radiance. When they turned to leave, he called to the one who played the lyre.

"Terpsichore—I would have a word with you."
