Offworld Book Tour and #Giveaway

Off World
by
Kimberly Adkins
Genre: Science Fiction

Does space make you paranoid?

Was The Corporation harboring a dark secret on the off world mining
colony to protect their bottom line?

ChristopherCarter loved to explore. He was a specialist in his field back home
on earth, and travel to a moon that orbited a gas giant 120 times the
size of his home planet was the opportunity of a lifetime.  This
would be his first deep space assignment, and he'd wanted this
contract more than anything else in the world; except for his family,
of course. And he didn't have to choose one or the other.

It was amazing how things worked out --Until they didn't.

Everyone was hiding something at the facility, and it didn't take long to
figure out they were hiding it from him. Unfortunately for
Christopher, the truth would prove to be far more horrifying than
anything he could ever have imagined.

Q: Tell us something interesting about you that most people wouldn’t
know?

A: I have a Cylon toaster in my kitchen. So far, it hasn’t convinced
any of my other appliances to revolt against me and assume control
over the destiny of mankind. I guess I’m lucky there. It does burn
‘Frak Off’ onto my toast every morning, though.

  3. My question for the author is how easy or hard is it to come with ideas for a sci fi novel? Do you take from your dreams or do you just have an excellent imagination?

  4. Hi Katie, thanks so much for your question, I can't answer for Kimberley - but for myself I usually find my dreams don't make sense when I wake up :) However, lots of things give me ideas for my SF novels, from weird weather conditions, to something I might read in a scentific article in a magazine or on the internet which starts me thinking 'what if...'
Thank so much for stopping by and for such an interesting question - I hope Kimberley will be along to answer it too.

  5. Thank you for hosting me today. It's nice to meet you all and great to have questions.
I'm with Hywela, in that so many things around me inspire ideas. In the case of Off World, however, the entire story is based on a dream I had one night. The book is pretty close to it, though I will say Christopher looked like a young Denzel Washington in the dream.
It's amazing to see so many women writing SciFi and opening up the possibilities for us.

    Thank you all again!

It's a real pleasure to host you, and I hope you're having a very successful tour. So interesting that 'Off World' was based on a dream (Wish my dreams were that good!) Yes, I hadn't realised how many women lvoe writing SF, until I was published myself. I'm off to download 'Off World' now!

  7. Thank you so much for sharing. I don't always gravitate towards sci-fi fi, but this one definitely seems like it would be worth a try.
