BACKGROUND:
Having fulfilled the mission set by Apollo, Terpsichore the muse of dance is preparing to return to Olympus when she meets the mysterious Myrddin. Unaware of her goddess status, he invites her to share a meal with him and falls asleep by the campfire. She is lured towards a host of glimmering, evil red lights, and although she senses the danger, she is now without her powers and has no means of resisting them. Myrddin rescues her and holds her in his arm. This is a few passges on from last week's snippet .
SNIPPET (as usual, some creative punctuation to comply with 10 sentence rule)
Gently, he removed her hands from around his neck, holding them in both of his.
"I'm sorry, Cora. This is wrong."
If someone had slid a knife between her ribs the pain could not have been more intense, she closed her eyes, not wanting him to see the hurt in them.
"You know I am betrothed," he went on. "Forgive me. It was just...I was so relieved the Ellylldan didn't take you."

Interesting! I wonder if they'll get together in the end.
ReplyDeleteLoL Jessica, that's revealed at the end! :)
DeleteIntriguing moment. I look forward to finding out if there will be another kiss. :)
ReplyDeleteOh yes, more kisses - and more! :)
DeleteOf course that's all it was.
ReplyDeleteOf course! :)
DeleteHe's still not being completely honest. That was a lot more than mere relief.
ReplyDeleteTrue Ed - although he's trying to be honest without giving away his true feelings.
DeleteAnd the bad boy's bell rings. Love the almost sexual scene. To be continued, I hope.
ReplyDeleteThanks Carmaine - I wa going to finish these snippets in a week or so, but perhaps I'll carry them on a bit longer!
DeleteOh my, the intense buildup here and then the total letdown because he's an honorable man...very well done!
ReplyDeleteThanks Veronica - yes, his sense of honour doesn't make it easy for him - or her.
DeleteWhat a sad scene. Heartbreaking on her part. I hope they can get together.
ReplyDeleteYes, even a goddess can lose her heart!
DeleteAw, I really felt her pain! I have a feeling this betrothal is in for a rough ride.
ReplyDeleteYou're right, Christina, there is actually more to this betrothal than meets the eye - and again it's mainydown to his sense of honour
DeleteI wonder if he's as strong as he thinks he is? I feel thee will be a return engagement for these two.
ReplyDeleteI think there's a good chance you may be right, Christiane! :)
DeleteOh, the poor thing! I feel bad for her.
ReplyDeleteYes, she a gonner for sure, but the gods of Olympus haven't finished with her and Myrddin yet.
DeleteYikes! There are worse things to say after a hot kiss than 'sorry,' but that's not what anyone wants to hear.
ReplyDeleteYou're so right, Caitlin, and it's actually as difficult for him to say as it is for her to hear.
