BACKGROUND:
Having fulfilled the mission set by Apollo, Terpsichore the muse of dance is preparing to return to Olympus when she meets the mysterious Myrddin. Unaware of her goddess status, he invites her to share a meal with him and falls asleep by the campfire. She is lured towards a host of glimmering, evil red lights, and although she senses the danger, she is now without her powers and has no means of resisting them. Myrddin rescues her and holds her in his arm. This is a few passges on from last week's snippet .

SNIPPET (as usual, some creative punctuation to comply with 10 sentence rule)

Once more, his arms enfolded her. She felt the touch of his lips against her hair.

She tingled from head to foot, and a sweet ache throbbed deep within her. She molded her body to his, her breasts burning against his bare chest. Never before had she felt this way when a man kissed her...never had she wanted any man so much, never had she felt so nearly mortal. She felt his arousal, and closed her eyes in surrender. Then she heard his faint, ragged intake of breath as he ceased the kiss and released her.

Gently, he removed her hands from around his neck, holding them in both of his.

"I'm sorry, Cora. This is wrong."

If someone had slid a knife between her ribs the pain could not have been more intense, she closed her eyes, not wanting him to see the hurt in them.

"You know I am betrothed," he went on. "Forgive me. It was just...I was so relieved the Ellylldan didn't take you."

His mind is set on the dangerous task that lies before him, and the woman he has sworn to save. Nevertheless, he cannot deny the growing attraction between him and the beautiful stranger he meets along the way.

Terpsichore and Myrddin face a deadly force that threatens to part them forever. Is she destined to lose the only man she has ever truly loved? Is there nothing she can do to save him? Finally, when all seems lost, in desperation she finds herself DANCING WITH FATE.

  3. He's still not being completely honest. That was a lot more than mere relief.

    1. True Ed - although he's trying to be honest without giving away his true feelings.

    1. You're right, Christina, there is actually more to this betrothal than meets the eye - and again it's mainydown to his sense of honour

  10. Yikes! There are worse things to say after a hot kiss than 'sorry,' but that's not what anyone wants to hear.

    1. You're so right, Caitlin, and it's actually as difficult for him to say as it is for her to hear.
